As a new year begins, the world faces many challenges — but also new possibilities

This message is not a promise.

It is a quiet expression of confidence grounded in science, responsibility, and time.

The challenges are real.

So are the solutions.

The energy is there.

What changes is our understanding.

New Year Address by Holger Thorsten Schubart on Responsibility, Science, and the Future

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Excellencies,

Members of the international community,

We meet at a moment of global tension —

economic, geopolitical, environmental, and technological.

Yet tension itself is not the defining feature of our time.

It is merely the pressure created by an outdated system,

one that was built on the assumption of permanent scarcity.

For centuries, humanity organized power around the control of energy:

who owns it, who transports it, who withholds it.

But history teaches us something important:

Every system built on scarcity eventually collapses

when abundance becomes technically accessible.

Over the past decade, scientists, engineers, and researchers across continents have reached a quiet but decisive threshold.

We have learned that the universe is not empty,

not passive,

and not silent.

It is filled with constant, omnipresent energy flux —

particles, interactions, vibrations —

not episodic, not explosive,

but continuous.

Through advances in physics, materials science, and mathematical modeling,

this reality can now be described coherently.

One such description is what we call the Master Formula —

a unifying framework explaining how ambient, invisible energy

can be converted into usable power through resonance and structure.

I will not dwell on equations today.

Because what matters is not the formula itself,

but what it tells us about our future.

It tells us this:

Energy does not need to be extracted by force.

It does not need to be centralized to be reliable.

And it does not need to be scarce to be valuable.

It can be generated quietly,

locally,

continuously,

without fuel, without emissions, without borders.

This is not an ideology.

It is an emerging physical reality.

I wish to acknowledge, with deep respect,

the many scientists, institutions, universities, laboratories,

and independent researchers around the world

who contributed to this understanding —

often without certainty, recognition, or immediate reward.

They worked not for headlines,

but for coherence.

And coherence, sooner or later, becomes truth.

Let us be clear:

The coming decade will not be shaped by belief.

It will be shaped by necessity.

Artificial intelligence, digital infrastructure, climate adaptation,

and global population growth are pushing energy demand

beyond what centralized, fossil-based systems can sustainably provide.

This is not a matter of political preference.

It is a matter of physics.

And physics does not negotiate.

There will be resistance.

There will be delay.

There will be attempts to slow this transition.

That is expected.

But history shows us another constant:

One can delay alignment with reality —

but one cannot defeat it.

Because in this transition, humanity has two allies

that cannot be lobbied, sanctioned, or intimidated:

The first is the universe itself —

an inexhaustible source of energy in constant motion.

The second is time.

And time always favors solutions

that are simpler, cleaner, and more resilient.

As a new year begins,

this gives us reason not for fear,

but for calm confidence.

The future does not need to be forced.

It will arrive because it works.

Our responsibility is not to accelerate recklessly,

but to guide wisely.

To ensure that new energy systems serve

education before domination,

healthcare before control,

and cooperation before conflict.

Because energy is not merely power.

Energy is stability.

Energy is dignity.

Energy is peace.

One day, future generations may look back and say:

Humanity did not conquer a new source of energy.

It finally learned to live in resonance with what had always existed.

As we enter this new year,

let us remember:

The energy is there.

The science is catching up.

The time is on our side.

And with time and the universe as our allies,

the direction of the future is not a question of if —

only of how responsibly.

Thank you. And may the coming year be guided by light, wisdom, patience, and courage.
