Neutrino experiments look to reveal big answers about how these fundamental particles interact with matter
Neutrino experiments look to reveal big answers about how these fundamental particles interact with matter
Except in horror movies, most scientific experiments don’t start with scientists snooping around narrow, deserted hallways. But a tucked-away location in the recesses of the Department of Energy’s (DOE) Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) provided exactly what Yuri Efremenko was looking for. Efremenko, an ORNL researcher and University of Tennessee

The technology that will convert neutrino energy from the cosmos to electrical power for consumers
The technology for harnessing neutrino is becoming a reality as researchers begin to unravel its secrets. In the foreseeable future, neutrinos transformers may do what solar cells are capable of doing with one big difference – since it is not dependent on sunlight, it can generate energy even in the

Neutrinos: Nobel Prize Award a game-changer
These high-energy particles coming from the radioactive decay light and other sources hit the earth from all points in a continuous stream – unseen, unfelt, but constantly changing in flight. If we go by Einstein’s Theory of Relativity then anything that has mass, no matter how minute contains energy. While the idea

The secret: measuring an antineutrino’s energy
The secret: measuring an antineutrino’s energy
The MINERvA collaboration analyzed data from the interactions of an antineutrino—the antimatter partner of a neutrino—with a nucleus. They were surprised to find evidence that antineutrinos interacted with pairs of particles inside the nucleus. They had expected antineutrinos to interact with just single protons or neutrons. To see this evidence,

Neutrino experiments could rewrite Standard Model of Physics
Researchers have shown that they can shield a sensitive, scalable 44-kilogram germanium detector array from background radioactivity, a key step towards solving a much bigger mystery. If equal amounts of matter and antimatter had formed in the Big Bang more than 13 billion years ago, they would have annihilated one

Neutrinos on Wikipedia
A neutrino (denoted by the Greek letter ν) is a fermion (an elementary particle with half-integer spin) that interacts only via the weak subatomic force and gravity.[2][3] The mass of the neutrino is much smaller than that of the other known elementary particles.[1] Although only differences of squares of the three

Did You Know

A few years ago, lots of people believed that neutrino energy is just a form of science fiction, and many thought that our present technology wouldn’t able to produce one. There are also people who are saying that our physical capabilities are limited, and it is not enough to create and harness neutrino energy. However, everything changed as scientists have discovered a way on how to produce the energy, and it instantly became news around the world.

In 2015, Takaaki Kajita, a scientist from Japan, and Arthur McDonald, a physicist from Canada, discovered that neutrinos have masses. Neutrinos are one of the smallest cosmic particles, scientists thought that they do not have mass, but some are speculating that it might have its mass because it is a form of matter. Takaaki Kajita and Arthur McDonald developed their mechanism to find out the crucial information about neutrinos. Their research was presented to the scientific community, and they won the Nobel Prize for Physics because of their monumental discovery.
